Swift Color Choices

We've taken a LOT of pictures and done our best to describe the different colors, so you'll get the best idea you can of what your swift will look like when complete!  Here are some things to look for:

Strut pin color: Photos below show each strut color with black and with white pins - the pins will correspond to the Hub Color you choose.  The same strut colors can look quite different with either black or white accents!

Translucency: Some colors are more translucent than others, and the photos taken against a wood background show this.

Color Names: While it's tempting to come up with unique and descriptive names for each color (like a yarn colorway), we opted to keep it simple instead.  We wanted to minimize confusion when ordering.  Please take careful note of the color name you like best!

Check out the videos on this page and check out our instagram feed for a ton more!  We've taken a video of almost every batch of swifts we've sent out.

Neons & Rainbow Shimmer

Neon colors are transparent.  The edges catch the light and glow under both natural and UV light.  They pair well together, or with the Dazzle Black colors for a high contrast.  They even cast neon shadows in direct sunlight!

Rainbow Shimmer is completely clear with small flecks of rainbow glitter for a more subtle sparkle.  When used on inner struts, it almost disappears, making the outer struts look like they're floating.  When used on outer struts, it can actually be difficult to see them, and the yarn looks like it's floating.  A full Rainbow Shimmer swift is perfect for someone who wants a very minimalist look.   It brings allllllll the attention to the yarn!

Matte

Matte colors are great for anyone who wants something a little more understated than all glitter all the time.  They have a nice translucency which gives them a nice seaglass look.  Note that some colors are more translucent than others, look at the wood background photo below.   If you do want to add subtle sparkle, each Matte color pairs well with a Shimmer color.   We like placing Shimmer on the inside and Matte on the inside, because the inner struts really showcase the sparkle better (it's because they move slower and aren't just a blur).

Below are Matte colors next to their corresponding Shimmer colors. Any of these pairs would make a great swift! We recommend choosing Shimmer for Inner struts, as they sparkle more there than when placed on Outer struts.

Shimmer

The Shimmer colors are all translucent with small flecks of silver glitter.  They cast a colorful shadow when placed in direct sunlight.  Shimmer colors pair nicely with the corresponding Matte colors, see the photo above.   Or choose an all Shimmer swift to make something fun and colorful with a playful hint of sparkle!  If pairing a Shimmer color with a Matte or Neon color, we recommend choosing the Shimmer for Inner struts because they show off the sparkle better.  As with Matte colors, some are more translucent than others, see the photo with the wood background below.

Dazzle

Dazzle colors are The Business, they're for anyone who wants MAXIMUM SPARKLE!  They have a solid metric crapton of chunky glitter throughout, and most colors are completely opaque.  If you choose only one Dazzle color for your swift, we suggest you choose it as your Inner strut color.  The inner struts revolve more slowly and don't become a blur, which makes them sparkle more.  Inner struts are also not obscured when yarn is placed on your swift.

For all colors between Red and Pink Dazzle below, the glitter is the actual color shown, it is not silver.  This makes them deeply jewel-toned and quite beautiful.  Rainbow Dazzle has silver holographic glitter, which gives off rainbow hues when it sparkles.  Black Rainbow Dazzle is a slightly translucent dark grey with the same holographic glitter.  Even though it's full of glitter, it gives off a more subtle sparkle than the other black Dazzles.  Black Hole features small bits of silver glitter in a completely opaque black.  It has the least amount of glitter of all the black Dazzles but it's the highest contrast between glitter and black and it does sparkle nicely.  Black Hole is a great look for a Space Swift (paired with a Galaxy color).   Black Slate and Black Gold are the most sparkley of the black Dazzles.  Black Slate is a very slightly translucent smokey gray with silver glitter, which creates a slightly blue overtone.  Black Gold is a similar smokey gray with gold glitter, which gives it a slight yellow/green overtone.

Galaxy

Galaxy has multiple colors that are swirled together for a marbled look, and there is a light dusting of small glitter on one side only which was difficult to capture in the photos below.  The Galaxy colors are completely opaque.  Each swirl pattern is unique, so each strut will be a little different, and the backs of the struts are different still, with an almost matte look.

We build Space Swifts with Galaxy on the Outer struts (glitter facing out) and one of the Black Dazzle colors on the inside, and they are our absolute favorite.  The Witch Galaxy has tones of purple, gray, and light green with a gold glitter.  The Purple Galaxy has tones of purple, blue, and black with a silver glitter.  The Green Galaxy has tones of green and black with gold glitter.  We think Purple Galaxy looks great paired with Black Slate, and Green and Witch Galaxy look great paired with Black Gold, though you really can't go wrong with any pairing.  Black Rainbow and Black Hole look good with any of them, see the above Dazzle series for more details about each of the Black colors.
